Credit card transactions?
How does the credit card payment system work?
Shopping cart
We have predefined code that lets you set up either
single transactions or a full shopping cart if you want to sell
multiple items. You can see an example of a shopping cart on
one of our hosted sites
www.pangbata.com where a shopping cart is used.
Payment
Payment is taken via the WorldPay (who are a branch of the Royal
Bank of Scotland) online service. The credit card is confirmed
as valid and the sales approved.
Order
The order is then emailed to your sales
account. You then ship the goods to the customer.
Funds transfer
The sales funds are then transferred to us
from WorldPay less the WorldPay transaction fees (about 4.5%). So
for example, if you had $9,500 sales, we get about $9,072 then
transfer $9,033 to you (less our monthly fee). This transfer
happens each month unless you do not make any sales (in which case
you need to pay NZ$39).
Limits
There is a limit of NZ$10K sales per month
for this service. If you have more sales we will need to
increase our price. Similarly, if your web site starts getting
an inordinate amount of traffic or download volumes then we need to
review our charges.
Refunds for products also need to be thought
about. You do not receive the fee back (ie you loose out).
There are also some technical limits to the WorldPay
service, like limits on product description length etc. They have
some good tutorials and example code for your site.
